Spelling and Reading – Week of Dec. 12-16

This week we are reading the stories “Jan’s New Home” and “A Letter from Jan.”  Please practice our word wall words and spelling words at home with your child this week.    

 

Word Wall Words:  away, car, friends, house, our, school, very

 

Spelling Words:  fix, fixes, class, classes, wish, wishes, kiss, kisses, bus, buses, friends, very

Challenge Word: location

Our skills this week are reading, writing and spelling words with-es, -or, and -ore endings, verbs that do not add -s, and identifying the “theme” of a story.

This week we are reading the stories “Ruby in Her Own Time” and “I’m Growing.”  Please practice our word wall words and spelling words at home with your child this week.   Also, in the boxes are four sentences for your child to read to you.

Word Wall Words:  any, enough, ever, every, own, sure, were

Spelling Words:  bring, trunk, pink, bank, sang, wing, rink, blank, rang, sunk, every, sure

 Challenge Word:  Christmas

Are there enough pancakes for Hank?

Make sure every cupcake is pink.

Did you ever skate at an outside rink?

They put a jack inside every car trunk.

Our skills this week are words that end with -ng and -nk sounds, compound words, and verbs with -s.
